This CD was inspired by a novel by Anne Cuneo "Le trajet d'une riviére", a historical espionage story in early 17th century Europe, whose protagonist Francis Tregian, in addition to his dark espionage business, meets numerous artists and musicians of his time and collects their music. The resourceful ensemble Les Witches and a handful of guests present here a selection of music that Tregian might have written down, bringing the novel character to life through the music.
