Johann Georg Albrechtsberger was a musical authority in Vienna. Teacher of Hummel, Beethoven, F. X. Mozart, court organist, highly sought-after teacher of composition and undisputed master of counterpoint - music writers considered him the best organist of the period, and Albrechtsberger was also the absolute reference for Mozart.
Like all composers of his time, he wrote quite pragmatically what he was commissioned to do or what the audience demanded. And this was, to no small extent, high-quality light music for princely courts and the music-loving Viennese public: uniformly light, multi-movement compositions. The composition of the performing apparatus was almost the same; however, mixed occasional ensembles composed of a few strings and wind instruments were often formed.
