Lucien Durosoir (1878-1955) was one of the most renowned French violin virtuosos of his generation before the First World War. After the war he began to compose exclusively for himself. After the first CD with works for violin and piano (ALP 105) ALPHA dedicates a second CD with his three string quartets in world premiere recording to this forgotten composer. Although Durosoir's inspired and highly personal music is influenced by Debussy and the German late romantic period, it can hardly be compared to the music of his contemporaries.
