This live performance was recorded at the fourth Festival for Pianists held at Chetham’s School of Music in August 2004.It includes Hindemith’s Third Sonata, the ‘Prelude, choral et Fugue’ by Franck and several Chopin works. • “Alicja Fiderkiewicz ... a pianist of rare quality ... she plays with the kind of old-fashioned simplicity associated with the playing of her two great compatriots – Mieczyslaw Horszowski and Artur Rubinstein ... ” – Piano Magazine • After studies in her home country of Poland and in Russia Alicja Fiderkiewicz moved to the UK where she has built a fine reputation as a masterful interpreter of the Romantic repertoire and of Polish composers particularly. Originally recorded by Dunelm for limited release, but deleted after Dunelm founder Jim Pattison died, the recording has been re-released as a result of high demand.
