Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet (1665-1729) can be described as one of the few truly established professional composers of the Baroque. Her marriage fortunately did not mean the end of her musical career. Her sonatas for violin, published in 1695, are early examples of a successful integration of Italian stylistic elements into French music and are characterized by harmonic richness and great regularity of form.
