description
"The Second Piano Concerto, composed in 1951 in Morocco for the pianist Julius Katchen - and premiered by him - pays homage to an idiom influenced by Poulenc and Ravel without any disguise, with distinctly American undertones in the rapid finale. Nevertheless, there is no reason to condemn the work for this, because it is brilliantly worked, virtuoso and entertaining in the best sense. It's just not modern music." • FonoForum 05 / 08
