Kozeluch: 15 Piano Trios
The Trio 1790’s recordings of all the piano trios highlight Kozeluch’s role as a composer to be taken seriously alongside Mozart and Haydn.
Critics praise the lively virtuosity at the keyboard and the verve of the compositions, which are characterised by originality and an inspiring quality.
Trio 1790 performs with meticulous attention to detail and a deep familiarity with the idiom of the period, allowing the music’s originality to shine through. The result is a thoroughly convincing recording that does justice to Kozeluch’s music.
This commendable collection offers a compelling case for a composer who has been unjustly overshadowed by the Viennese Classical composers.
