description
Jean Gilles died at the age of 37 in 1705 and is known today mainly for his famous Requiem. However, as this fascinating disc reveals, he also wrote many large and small motets possessing theatrical drama and intimate expression worthy of the greatest 17th-century French composers. A real discovery!
