description
Even if Giovanni Paolo Cima is no longer on everyone's lips today, he was a lasting participant in the change of style between Renaissance and early Baroque. From Cima's Concerti Ecclesiastici, Daniela Dolci and Musica Fiorita have put together a Marian Vespers, based on the famous Marian Vesper of his contemporary Claudio Monteverdi, also published in 1610. Cima's music worth listening to shows that the development of the "Seconda prattica" is not only an invention of Monteverdi, but also a current of the time, in which Cima's music easily stands up to comparison with his famous contemporary.
