Muzio Clementi, the "father of the fortepiano", was not only successful as a virtuoso, composer and teacher, but also achieved great prosperity through his activities as a publisher and with the production of pianos. From London he undertook concert tours throughout Europe. In 1826 he completed the three-volume "Gradus ad Parnassum", which is published by NAXOS on four CDs, combining 100 extraordinarily demanding exercises to achieve musical and technical perfection. It is still considered one of the great compendia of music history today.
