"• Live production from the Semperoper, Dresden, 2012 • Constantin Trinks conducts the Staatskapelle Dresden. • Background: S'vanda the Bagpiper (Czech: S'vanda dudak) had its premiere in Prague in 1927. It was followed by productions all over the world, with the work translated into 17 languages. In 1931 it was performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera. The Nazis drove Weinberger into exile and the opera disappeared from the repertory everywhere until it was again performed in Dresden in 1950."
