Fabio Vacchi (born 1949) studied at the Conservatorio Giovanni Battista Martini of Bologna with Giacomo Manzoni and Tito Gotti. In 1974 he participated in the courses of the Tanglewood Festival in the United States, where he was awarded the Koussevitzky Prize in Composition. He became one of the foremost and most successful composers of Italy. His works were commissioned and performed by celebrities such as Riccardo Muti, Luciano Berio, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, The Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic, La Scala and others.

This new recording presents Vacchi’s complete music for guitar, including a quintet for guitar and string quartet, a suite for flute and amplified guitar, as well as “Flow My Dowland” for contralto and ensemble.

Played with great dedication by guitarist Alberto Mesirca and various Italian soloists of international renown.
