opis
Viktor Ullmann was murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz in 1944, but they should not succeed in permanently erasing the memory of him and his music. Especially in the last few decades, the Nazis have increasingly been concerned with the music they called "degenerate" and many of his works have been performed again. Before his deportation to Auschwitz, the 5th and 7th piano sonatas were written in the "showcase camp" Theresienstadt, which Ullmann later wanted to orchestrate into symphonies. After his murder, the composer and conductor Bernhard Wulff took his place. Gerd Albrecht has already recorded numerous works by Ullmann and his murdered and persecuted colleagues. He conveys to us not only his great sympathy for fate and his insight into the composer's work, but also the fascination and quality of this music.
