Geirr Tveitt (pronounced with a soft ‘G’ and surname as in ‘Tate’) was obviously an accomplished pianist as, when he gave the first performance of the Fifth Piano Concerto in 1954 in Paris under Jean Martinon, he also played the B flat minor Concerto of Tchaikovsky and Brahms’s D minor Concero!
