beskrivning
"Charpentier's music has been captured in all of its splendor byChristie and his ensemble, who have revealed him to be one of the truemasters of the second half of the 17th century... This effort by LesArts Florissants, however, must be accepted as an important part oftheir continuing Charpentier project. The quality of this release is inline with what we have come to expect from Christie, with an ensembleof well-matched, fine singers, and period instruments played in amanner beyond reproach. The disc opens rousingly, if enigmatically, with a March for Timpani... Charpentier's Te Deum is given aperformance that revels in that piece's martial character... The MissaAssumpta est Maria contains a wide variety of moods and timbres, eachfaithfully rendered." • American Record Guide • •
"Christie's lively, dramatic and committed approach shines throughconsistently... the overall effect is impressive, particularly in theLitanies; here a careful vocal blend allied to a quietly reflectiveinterpretation produce a performance of beauty and conviction." • Gramophone
