About the youth of Jean-Baptiste Stuck (1680-1755) is only known that he was born in Livorno as the son of Austrian parents. Initially active in Naples, in 1705 he found employment with Philip II, the Duke of Orleans and later regent, who made him musicien ordinaire in 1707.
