This seventh and last volume of the integral of Sgambati's piano music, one of the most influential students of Liszt, extraordinary animator of the Roman musical life of the second half of the nineteenth century, by its nature as an integrative appendix offers an overview on all fronts of his creativity. This volume includes almost exclusively unpublished pieces, including the last night, the transcription for piano four hands of his first important symphonic work, the Festive Symphony performed by Francesco Caramiello and Francesco Libetta, and a new and brilliant piano version of the Suite in min BWV 1067 by JS Bach, which follows the great tradition of the Liszt school alongside the famous transcriptions of Tausig, d'Albert and Siloti. Here Sgambati avoids fascination with cyclopean sounds favoring the clarity of the warp and the brilliance of the sound as a whole, differentiating itself from the contemporary transcriptions of Martucci and the subsequent ones of Busoni, characterized by a massive orchestral writing. The transcription of Sgambati safeguards the clarity of the counterpoint plot, without conceding anything to grandiose sounds.
