For his contemporaries he was a star, a genius on the violin, who travelled all over Europe and America and caused a sensation. Emile Sauret was a gifted violinist and wrote more than 100 works for his instrument. Why he fell into oblivion relatively quickly but lastingly after his death in 1920 may seem puzzling to us because of the high quality of his music. It is all the more wonderful that Sauret's music, which is so playfully light, lyrically ethereal and moving, is now awakened again with this CD. The violinist Michi Wiancko, endowed with the highest expressiveness and gifted musicality, is the perfect interpreter for this romantic repertoire.
