Rota has become known as a film composer, especially through his collaboration with Federico Fellini. But he has also composed other works, for example four piano concertos. The Concerto in C major is particularly distinguished by its classical formal language and is perhaps Rota's best contribution for performances in the concert hall. The E minor Concerto is his last composition ever. The concerts are played here by Janne Mertanen, who has made a name for himself up to now mainly as a Chopin interpreter.
