Franz Xaver Richter's Sonata da camera shows many of the musical peculiarities that also make his symphonies so interesting: imaginative voice, expressive harmony and surprising melodic twists. Richter probably composed the pieces in the late 1750s. They are firmly anchored in the baroque trio sonata form, but one also hears echoes of the new musical language developed at the same time by his colleagues from the Mannheim Hoforchester. MusicWeb International wrote about the first CD: "The three Finnish soloists ... have first-class recommendations and play with great sensitivity. Richter undoubtedly deserves more attention."
