They date from the years 1830 to 1849, and if their roots in Polish folk music are at first quite clear, the influence of French culture becomes increasingly evident in the latter. The dance form transforms into an intimate confession in which the typical elements of the mazurka appear only filigree-like and the genre becomes a pure pretext for fantasy development.
