Because he got bored as a child picking mushrooms in the forest, he started singing a song and thus made his parents, both musicians, aware of his musicality. He received his first theoretical lessons from his father, and because of his large hands it was decided that he should learn piano. So says Boris Berezovsky, born in Moscow in 1969. In 1988, on the occasion of his London debut, the Times noted him as an "exceptionally promising artist, a pianist of dazzling virtuosity and impressive power". Two years later, Berezovsky fulfilled the hopes placed in him by winning the gold medal in the Moscov Tchaikovsky Competition.
