After the "Música Callada" Steffen Schleiermacher has followed up with "Fêtes lointaines", the second series with very peculiar piano works by Federico Mompous, which contains, in addition to the eponymous cycle, further miniatures from the period between 1914 and 1921. Already in these early works one can sense the extremely undramatic melancholy that permeates Mompous' entire oeuvre. And once again Schleiermacher succeeds in enveloping the few notes in a mysterious glow that lends the short pieces an almost supernatural charm.
