opis
Francesco Molino, like Giuliani, and Carulli, numbers among the virtuoso guitarists who left Italy during the nineteenth century in order to seek their fortune in the salons of the nobility in the European musical capitals of Paris and Vienna. Molino probably made his way to Paris in 1818 and 1820, when guitar playing enjoyed great popularity in high society. He himself appeared above all as a guitar virtuoso in the Parisian salons, where he scored considerable successes. Some of his pupils were from the upper crust of the Parisian upper class. Molino composed most of his over sixty works for guitar between 1820 and 1835, and his domain was certainly a buffoonesque compositional style à la Rossini. On this CD it is above all the Trio from his op. 4, 1 and the two nocturnes that demonstrate this connection: they are brimming with melodies, and the ideas flow by in varied sequence while being integrated into an easy-to-understand as well as very logically constructed form. These works are interpreted by the Sérénade à Trois, a trio formed by three internationally renowned musicians who love the special charm and musical idiom specific to early romanticism.
