Luys de Narváez, born in Granada, left one of the most famous anthologies of music of the Spanish Golden Age, the "Delfín de Música". This collection marks a turning point in Spanish musical history: Spain's turn toward European music. With the arrival of Charles V as the new Spanish king in 1516, a great deal of music previously unknown in Spain arrived on the Iberian Peninsula from the Netherlands, where Charles had grown up, and revolutionized musical life there. This new musical influence is clearly reflected in the works of Luys de Narváez.
