The works presented here were written between 1768 and 1773. The Kyrie D minor "di Dresda" is probably Luchesi's first sacred work ever. The attentive listener will notice a melodic phrase shortly after the introduction that clearly quotes the beginning of the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, which Luchesi knew very well. Luchesi also refers to his colleague in his own Stabat Mater. The most extensive and inspired work on this album is the Miserere; the purity and beauty of the melody lines and the skilful use of expressive dissonances make this piece a true treasure, a particularly precious pearl of spiritual music.
