How much Juan de Ledesma was familiar with the Italian school is also evident in his sonatas, for they are directly related to Corelli's music and that of his students. Among his other influences we find what we can call "Hispanism", that is, the insertion of melodic and rhythmic twists that remind us of Spanish - or more precisely Andalusian - folk music. Another important influence is pre-classical music, which was fashionable in Europe at the time and which Ledesma certainly knew.
