Conceived as a suite for a single accordion, David Lang's soundtrack for the forthcoming Bill Morrison film (slated for theatrical release later this year via Kino Lorber) evokes a remarkable turn into folk traditions inspired by Russian storytelling. The music — played with elegance and emotion by Norwegian accordionist Frode Andersen — is further propelled by the haunting theme “I cross the field,” which features the indelible voice of Shara Nova, known for her work with My Brightest Diamond and Lang's own death speaks project.
