The Spanish cantatas from the late 17th and early 18th centuries collected here are extremely interesting simply because of their history of transmission: although their composers, Joseph de Torres and his pupil Joseph de Nebra, both worked primarily in Madrid, their music is largely in South America Sources handed down, especially in Guatemala, where the Spanish occupation forces had shipped their own repertoire. The export of culture to the colonies turned out to be a stroke of luck, since a large part of the printed music was destroyed in the fire in Madrid on Christmas Eve 1734 and since then the sources in Guatemala have been the only accessible ones. Cristina Diego Pacheco presents this source in an extremely informative manner in the supplement and at the same time places it in a broad European context; It is a pity that the company could not decide to translate into German, especially since the composers are practically unknown in this country.
