opis
Venice was a key moment in Hasse's life. There he became Kapellmeister at the Conservatorio degli Incurabili and the premiere of his opera Artaserse in 1730, with the famous Farinelli in the leading role, attracted attention throughout Europe and consolidated his heroic reputation in Italy as "il divino Sassone" ("The Divine Saxon"). • Hasse wrote more than 60 operas, as well as several oratorios, masses, sacred works, secular cantatas and instrumental works, and as a composer became the last idol of the late baroque period. He mainly wrote operas in the style of "Dramma per musica" and mostly used libretti by Pietro Metastasio. His unique, beautiful sounding style combines the expressiveness of the baroque era with classical lightness. • "I want to become immortal like Handel and Hasse." No less a person than Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart expressed himself as a nine-year-old about the composer Johann Adolf Hasse, who - together with Georg Friedrich Händel - was the only German composer truly known throughout Europe in the years 1730-1770. For Joseph Haydn, "this exquisite sound artist" was the model, Wilhelm Friedemann and Johann Sebastian Bach often travelled from Leipzig to Dresden and visited Hasse's operas to listen to "pretty little songs". Jean-Jacque Rosseau described the Dresden Court Opera Orchestra conducted by Hasse as the best in Europe, and the philosopher Voltaire called it "the hero of the century".
