Francisco J. Garcia Fajer (1730-1809) first worked in Italy, and later - until the end of his life - he became Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Zaragoza. In his "Totenofficium for violin, flute, horn and bass and 8 vocal parts" the Italian influence is clearly noticeable, not least through dramatic and lyrical elements borrowed from secular music. This is the special charm of this composition, which is now available as a world premiere recording.
