As was customary in Vienna at the time, Fux's oratorios are all composed to Italian texts. The only exception is the "Oratorium germanicum de Passione", recorded here for the first time and believed to have been lost for a long time, which is considered Fux' last oratorio and the only one in the German language. Somewhat unusually for us, it uses the ancient myth of Perseus and Andromeda as an allegory of the Passion of Jesus. In his exploration of the musical heritage of Austria, Gunar Letzbor has made an extremely valuable rediscovery here. The role of Perseus is played by the exceptional boy soprano Alois Mühlbacher.
