description
From time to time it still seems to happen that musical pearls from the past, hidden for centuries under the veil of history, are rediscovered. This is undoubtedly the case with the Concerti and Overtures by Johann Christoph Pez. The composer's remarkable personality unfolds particularly in the great dramatic power of his French overtures, which are worthy of a Kaiser or early Handel. His oeuvre is undoubtedly of much greater significance than has been generally acknowledged to date, and his concerti and overtures make up, if not the most important, then the most varied and attractive part of it.
