description
Guillels, Rostropovitch, Stern: three concertos by Saint Saens in a historical interpretation!
The exceptional longevity of the career of Camille Saint-Saens, child prodigy praised by Liszt, but also consenting spectator (?) Of the Stravinskian revolution and Debussyste, leaving more than 300 manuscripts, makes his image today that of a somewhat retarded creator when judged only on the 20th century. German, Russian musicologists. on the contrary, salute his exceptional professionalism, his pianistic writing reminiscent of Beethoven, an orchestral art drawn from Berlioz and Liszt, the most impressive musical mechanics encountered by Berlioz. His 2nd Concerto which he created in 1868 looks great, as does his last 3rd and last Violin Concerto in which the dedicatee Pablo de Sarasate ensured a career that was still alive.
