description
This budget-priced reissue featuring the young Belarusian mezzo Ekaterina Sementchuk, accompanied by pianist Larissa Gergieva, mixes vocal works by central figures of the Russian repertoire (Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff) with others who are less familiar in this repertoire (Glazunov, Taneyev, Glière). An overview of the songs' themes reveals a preponderance of poems dealing with night, nature, love, and disillusionment, some glances towards the Orient, and a few pieces for children.
