description
"Muti elicits playing and singing of the highest quality from everyone involved. He breathes with the singers, knows when to give them a little space and when to tighten the reins. The ensembles are wonderfully clearly structured with internal tension, and the aria accompaniments are developed with a love of detail. The tempo and dynamic treatment foreshadow what will soon become an important standard of interpretation of the original sound movement. Muti conducts a variable, even colorful Mozart, always lively and beautiful in sound.
• The Viennese are in grandiose form and shine with their incomparable Mozart sound, even in the solo passages (horn). This leaves nothing to be desired. The singers are excellent, a Mozart ensemble one could hardly wish for better. ...You can't go wrong with this DVD edition, which is, of course, also perfectly prepared from a technical point of view. This Salzburg 'Cosi fantutte', which, with a changing cast, could still be experienced into the 1990s, is a milestone in the history of the work's reception." • (klassik. com)
