Custódio Castelo: Famous Fados On Portuguese Guitar
performers
Castelo, Custódio
catalogue number
EUCD2931
description
Like Carlos Paredes, Custódio Castelo creates groundbreaking new sounds that have transformed the Portuguese guitar into a concert instrument that can be played solo or as accompaniment.
His unique Portuguese guitar, handcrafted from a single oak root by master Oscar Cardoso, is capable of subtle nuances of emotion, which he uses to great effect, especially for melancholy, but also for feelings of jubilation. This release is a selection of Portugal's most famous fados, arranged and performed on Custódio Castelo's Portuguese guitar, lovingly selected by the master himself.
