description
Chinese temples each have their own distinctive musical style, and these four beautiful, contemplative pieces come from Beijing's Zhi Hua Temple, built during the Ming Dynasty in 1443.

The music of the Zhi Hua Temple evolved from a combination of court, Buddhist temple, and folk music. Here, it is played in its purity, on the guanzi (an oboe-like double-reed wind instrument) and sheng (a free-reed harmonica), with the addition of the pipa.
