opis
Some music lovers may be familiar with Thaddäus Wolfgang von Dürnitz (1756-1807) as the patron of the Piano Sonata K. 284, which Mozart composed for the baron in Munich in 1775. The electoral Bavarian chamberlain and major à la suite was a great music lover and accomplished pianist and bassoonist. His collection of nearly 1000 titles of music also lists his own works, including the six sonatas for bassoon and piano recorded here. The technically demanding sonatas, written around 1780, also give the soloist ample opportunity to play out the lyrical sides of the instrument. Dürnitz thus corresponds to the assessment of his contemporaries, who regarded the bassoon as a gentle, singing instrument. Sergio Azzolini and Edoardo Torbianelli have taken on the six extremely charming sonatas and present the bassoon here from a side that is quite unfamiliar to us.

Works:

• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 1 in B flat major
• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 2 in E flat major
• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 3 in G major
• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 4 in F major
• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 5 in G major
• Dürnitz: Bassoon Sonata No. 6 in C major
