The First Complete Recording of Draeseke’s Symphonies Felix Draeseke was one of the most prominent exponents of the music of his times in German-speaking countries. He developed a late romantic compositional style modeled on classical ideals and also gained renown as a music teacher and music writer. Dubbed »the mighty warrior« by Franz Liszt, Draeseke was one of the most gifted composers of the New German school. From the late nineteenth century until the early twentieth century Felix Draeseke’s music was greatly esteemed and performed by first-rank recognized artists such as Arthur Nikisch, Richard Strauss, Hans Pfitzner, Edwin Fischer, Fritz Reiner, and Karl Böhm. His complete symphonic oeuvre is now available at a special price in a box of three CDs on cpo.
