A sensational premiere: the organ of Notre Dame La Dalbade in Toulouse was recently restored and never recorded before. The fifty stop instrument was made by Eugène Puget (1832-1892), a member of a famous dynasty of organ builders from Toulouse. After its careful restoration, it can now be considered one of the outstanding examples of romantic organ building in France. The French organist Yves Rechsteiner dedicates himself here to transcriptions of great romantic symphonies made especially for this recording, thus continuing a long tradition of organ repertoire that is hardly practiced today. Here the instrument can play out all its tonal possibilities and thus enables us to rediscover many seemingly familiar pieces. An absolute must for organ experts and lovers!
