Cage was delighted that the interview had no goal-oriented concept and chatted freely. Thus began a collaboration between Scheffer and Cage that lasted from 1982 to 1992 and grew into a comprehensive audiovisual treasure.
Based on this archival material consisting of interviews, concerts, and many recordings of various locations closely linked to Cage, his life, and his work, this very intimate and fascinating film portrait of the creative mind, the important composer, and the man John Cage was created.
