Vivaldi: Serenata a tre RV 690 "Mio cor povero cor"
Marie Lys (Eurilla)
Sophie Rennert (Nice)
Anicio Zorzi Giustiani (Alcindo)
Volume 70 of the Vivaldi Edition brings to life a serenade by the "Red Priest", conducted with brio by Andrea Buccarella, his Abchordis ensemble and a trio of lively soloists.
Despite the warning of her friend Nice, the nymph Eurilla is in love with the shepherd Alcindo and tries to make him love her as punishment for his lack of enthusiasm. The story is simple, the trio of characters is borrowed from Arcadia, and the playful tone suits this type of open-air cantata, which was composed for political, dynastic or private celebrations. The Serenata a tre RV 690 from Vivaldi's pen nevertheless possesses all the qualities of a sophisticated yet cheerful miniature opera. Of the eight serenades that we know Vivaldi composed, only three manuscripts have survived to this day. The Serenata a tre, which is kept in the Turin library and serves as a source for the publications of the Vivaldi Edition, inspired the conductor and harpsichordist Andrea Buccarella and a larger than usual Abchordis ensemble.
