This DVD shows the great conductor Georg Soltian at various stages of his career. When the first of the performances recorded here took place in 1963, Solti was already well on the way to establishing himself as an international greatness in the music world. In Wagner, Solti shows himself through clear articulation, tight rhythms and a maximum of dynamics. As dazzling as he was as a Wagner interpreter, as a Strauss interpreter he had some of his most memorable hours in 1967. Along with Karajan, this Solti left his mark on the international music scene in the last quarter of the 20th century. When the last of the three recordings on this DVD was made in 1985, Solti was virtually unparalleled as a concert and studio conductor. Even at the age of 73, the old fire still glowed in him, which did not fail to have an effect in the concert hall.
