With this fourth volume, Musica Alta Ripa continues its series with overtures, sonatas and concertos by Georg Philipp Telemann. As in previous editions, this ensemble offers a series of varied works, illustrating the composer's incomparable ingenuity and technical skill. On this CD you will find pieces for rather unusual combinations, such as the delightful concerto in A for recorder, oboe and violin.
There is also a concerto for two recorders, entirely in French style, in which the two solo instruments form a duet, a 'double solo' so to speak. Musica Alta Ripa (including the excellent Anne Röhrig on violin and Hans-Peter Westermann on oboe d'amore) once again provides technically very neat and lively performances.
The MDG recording is another example of clarity and precision: you really hear every detail.
