Producer Joji Hirota writes: "The Italian taiko group KyoShinDo has a very unique approach to taiko music. They are not only taiko drummers, but also karate experts. Their mentor, former karate champion Luciano Parisi, has had a tremendous influence on them. I met the group in 2003 when they came to my concert at the Mediterranean Music Festival in Genoa. They were fascinated by taiko music as an ensemble, both in its sound and its movements. I have been teaching them the techniques of traditional and contemporary Japanese taiko music for over ten years. Their skills as karate experts add a unique touch to the technique I teach: taiko with a touch of martial arts. I trust that their drive and ambition to develop will make them one of the greatest and most unique taiko groups. I am proud to introduce KyoShinDo to the world."
