"The most musical person in Vienna" was Franz Schmidt, as Gustav Mahler said about the now completely forgotten colleague. Stefan Blunier has rediscovered this late Romantic master; with the mighty Beethoven Orchestra Bonn he presents Schmidt's Second Symphony, together with the no less magnificent "Festliches Prelude" by Richard Strauss, composed in the same year for the opening of the Vienna Konzerthaus.
