"Yuri Butsko's opera White Nights was premiered in Dresden in 1968 to great success, however it has never been staged in Russia. In giving his opera the subtitle “sentimental”, the composer emphasized its lyric and intimate orientation. • This recording was made by Gennady Rozhdestvensky and the All-Union Radio Big Symphony Orchestra in 1973. • “The best traditions of domestic music culture live on in Yuri Butsko’s deeply national music,” - Music in the USSR magazine."
