So the old man wanted to show his son what's what! King George I was actually a modest man, but the pompous courtesy of his eldest, the Prince of Wales, provoked a truly royal act. And so the famous Handel was commissioned to organize great music for a festival on the Thames that set standards in every respect. Handel fulfilled the royal wishes to the fullest satisfaction, and the Hannoversche Hofkapelle, legitimate successors to their boating London colleagues, re-recorded this luxurious "Water Music" - with findings that are still surprising today • The very question of the sequence in which the numerous dance movements should be performed has occupied generations. The Hannoversche Hofkapelle has chosen to provide an entertaining change with some historical plausibility. Impressive, when the trumpets suddenly appear and then spread festive-baroque glamour in the "Trumpet Minuet"! Totally surprising for the English audience: Handel imported two hunting horns from Germany, which were still unusual in England - and co-composed the "Ahs!" and "Ohs! • The Hannoversche Hofkapelle is still in the tradition of its English-Hanoverian predecessors. With their great expertise in historical performance practice, the distinguished artists achieve rousing performances.
