Even though he is known today mainly as an orchestral composer, Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) left behind an extensive body of piano works that stylistically covers both late Romanticism and Impressionism, even Expressionism, but is by no means averse to neoclassical jokes. Among the piano works are also those for four hands, covering the most diverse aspects of this often underestimated literature.
